<B>1980s Denis Potvin Game Worn and Signed Gloves.</B></I> In what was one of the most impressive stretches enjoyed by any NHL team in recent history, the New York Islanders won four consecutive Stanley Cups from 1980-83, establishing themselves immediately as the team to beat for the early 1980s. Due in large part to the prowess of their captain Denis Potvin, the Isles established a dynasty that saw them win a whopping 19 consecutive playoff series, which stands as a record in pro sports. Without the grit of their star defender and on-ice leader Potvin, it's doubtful that any of this would have been possible. Here we offer a pair of Potvin's game worn gloves, signed and personalized and exhibiting extraordinary wear. Nearly every surface of the gloves is covered with abrasions and the right palm has been completely torn through and repaired -- a testament to the defender's hard-nosed style of play. The inscription and signature span both gloves and reads: "To Rusty's, My Best Always, Good Luck 'Phil', Denis Potvin". A small handwritten "5" also in found inside each glove at the wrist. Originally presented to ex-Black Hawks defenseman Phil Russell for his Chicago sports bar, these gloves were worn at some point during those stellar Stanley Cup seasons.
