1977 Willie McCovey Career #470 Home Run Baseball. The man whose proficiency with directing home runs over the right field wall at Candlestick earned him naming rights of AT&T Park's "McCovey Cove" recorded his 470th round-tripper when his Louisville Slugger met with this ONL (Feeney) ball. It derives from the collection of San Francisco Giants catcher Mike Sadek (1973-81), who was able to grab the sphere when it bounded into the bullpen where Sadek was at work. Sadek's bold markered "#470" appears opposite the panel he notated "5-1-77, Willie McCovey's 470th Homerun vs. Larry Christiansen & Phillies." A third panel holds the slugger's inscription, "To my Friend Mike, Best Wishes, Willie McCovey." The inscription projects at a strength of 7/10, and the ball shows fine use from its historic flight. Included is a signed letter of provenance from Sadek. Home run balls from members of the 500 Club are highly desirable, and the fine provenance of this example makes it particularly appealing. LOA from PSA/DNA (autograph).
