1974 Ali vs. Foreman Rumble in the Jungle Ticket
1974 Ali vs. Foreman "Rumble in the Jungle" Full Ticket. On October 30, 1974 World Heavyweight Champion George Foreman defended his title against the former Champion Muhammad Ali in Kinshasa, Zaire. Foreman entered the ring seeming almost invincible. He was forty and zero with thirty-seven victories by knockout. He was in the prime of his life at twenty-six years old, six years younger than the challenger. If that was not enough, Foreman had destroyed two men in two rounds each, Joe Frazier and Ken Norton, both of whom had given Ali fits. Ali was a heavy underdog, but was coming off a win over Joe Frazier that had propelled him into a position to challenge Foreman. Early in the fight it looked bad for Ali. The bigger and stronger Foremen continually pelted Ali with huge punches while Ali covered up on the ropes offering little opposition. The fight went that way for almost five rounds. But Foreman began to tire from throwing a continual bombardment of punches and after the fifth Ali took over. His "rope-a-dope" strategy worked like a charm. Foreman tired badly and Ali had plenty left. By the eighth round Foreman had a hard time lifting his arms. A big right hand from Ali put Foreman down for good and Ali had miraculously won his second World Heavyweight Championship, becoming only the second man in boxing history to perform the feat. Presented here is a full, unused ticket to the event. The ticket does have a seat number and is an assigned press section ticket. President Mobutu of Zaire is pictured on the reverse. The ticket has the stub firmly attached and exhibits only slight fading from age. A scarce full ticket from one of Muhammad Ali's most famous fights. LOA from Craig Hamilton / JO Sports.
