JOAN MIRO
Titled: Oda A Joan Miro
Medium: Stone Lithograph
Signature: Plate Signed
Paper: Guarro Paper
Year: 1973 Size: 17-1/4 x 13 in.
Condition: Mint Certificate of Authenticity provided by Portable Assets will be included.
Joan Mir was an artist who worked in both Paris and Barcelona on collages, sculptures, tapestries and abstract paintings that are bright, fantastic and reminiscent of cave paintings. Raised in Barcelona, Mir went to Paris in 1920, where he became acquainted with other young artists and writers, including Pablo Picasso, Ezra Pound and Ernest Hemingway (who bought Mir's painting The Farm in 1923). Mir's first solo exhibit in Paris was in 1925, and by 1930 he was being exhibited in the United States. From the 1930s on, he worked on paintings, collages, tapestries and ceramic and bronze sculptures. His bold colors and simple lines and shapes make his work instantly recognizable, and his monumental, abstract sculptures are landmarks in cities such as Paris, Chicago, New York and Barcelona.
Shipping and insurance are determined after checkout.
