Though pegged as a three to one underdog, Foreman shocked the boxing world with a brutal beating of the undefeated Champ, knocking him down six times in two rounds before referee Arthur Mercante called a merciful end to the violence. It must be noted that this terrifying domination of the man who had beaten Muhammad Ali left little doubt in experts' minds that Foreman would likewise emerge with an easy victory in a 1974 bout that would come to be known as "The Rumble in the Jungle." Here we find one of the only known surviving examples of a fight poster made for the famous bout between two undefeated Heavyweight titans. Condition issues, which include a tack hole, scattered creasing and a three-inch diagonal tear beginning at the center of the bottom edge, must be forgiven when considering the intense rarity of this specimen. Our catalog imagery should accurately convey that the visual power is still very strong.
