<B>1973-D 50C --Struck on a Taiwan One Yuan Planchet--MS61 NGC.</B></I> 6.1 gm. Though the U.S. Mint did not strike one yuan coins for Taiwan until 1974, it is entirely conceivable that planchets would be prepared for that production in the preceding year, and that one of those planchets might mix in with half dollar flans. This piece, shifted toward 3 o'clock on the obverse, shows little patina and no trace of wear, though a number of wispy flaws are present on each side.
