These are the original tickets from the “Munich Massacre” Palestinian attack of the Israelites at the Munich Olympics in 1972. The first ticket was for the games which were postponed due to this historic terrorist attack and the second set were when the games were made up. The owner of the tickets was stationed there with the U.S. Marines at the U.S. Embassy in Munich, Germany at the time. There are four tickets and two booklets in this collection the ticket events include running, wrestling, and basketball and the booklets include futbol and judo. The basketball game is the game that includes the upset where the USSR beat the USA. The 1972 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XX Olympiad and officially branded as Munich 1972, were an international multi-sport event held in Munich, West Germany, from 26 August to 11 September 1972. The event was overshadowed by the Munich massacre in the second week, in which eleven Israeli athletes and coaches and a West German police officer at the Olympic Village were killed by Palestinian Black September members. The motivation for the attack was the ongoing Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The condition of this collection of Olympic Games memorabilia is good with minimal wear to the tickets but otherwise shows a good overall condition. The measurements of this pair of booklets is 7 7/8" x 8 1/4" and the tickets measure 4 1/8" x 5 7/8". The collective weight of this collection is 6oz.
