1971 Ali vs. Frazier I On-Site Program & Ticket
1971 Ali vs. Frazier I On-Site Program & Ticket Stub. The most anticipated Heavyweight prizefight since the 1938 rematch of Louis vs. Schmeling took place on March 8, 1971 at New York City's Madison Square Garden, pitting an undefeated current Champion Frazier against an undefeated former Champion Ali, who had had his title stripped from him after refusing to enter the service during the Vietnam War. Ali's dreams of retaking the belt would come to an end when Frazier dropped him to the canvas in the fifteenth and final round with a devastating left hook. Though he would survive to complete the bout, the unanimous decision resulted in Ali's first loss. Here we present one of the rare few on-site programs to survive to this day, featuring an unmistakable Leroy Neiman artwork on the cover. A three-inch tear extends from the lower left corner of the cover, but the program is otherwise quite strong, with just the typical edge and corner wear. The stub that joins the program is laced with almost imperceptible creases and wrinkles, still displaying very nicely despite a technical VG grade.
