<B>1970s World Hockey Association Pennants Lot of 27.</B></I> Near complete collection of 30" felt pennants chronicles the short life of the World Hockey Association, which operated as a direct competitor to the NHL from 1972-79. The league suffered many financial woes, though -- endorsing multi-million contracts on one hand while the franchises that supported them floundered with financial instability. Numbering 27 in total, just about every team that played in the league is represented, with some variants present. Entries include pennants from the Hew England Whalers (two variations), Birmingham Bulls, Minnesota Fighting Saints (two variations), Calgary Cowboys, Houston Aeros, Indianapolis Racers, Chicago Cougars, Ottawa Nationals, Winnipeg Jets (two variations), Cleveland Crusaders, Michigan Stags, New York Raiders, Cincinnati Stingers, New York Golden Blades, Alberta Oilers (two designs), Phoenix Roadrunners, Los Angeles Sharks, Denver Spurs, Quebec Nordiques (two designs), Toronto Toros, San Diego Mariners and Vancouver Blazers. Condition issues are limited to pin holes on some examples and some staining to the LA Sharks pennant, however several remain in mint presentational condition.
