<B>1970 10C No S PR69 Ultra Cameo NGC.</B></I> Walter Breen writes in his 1988 <I>Encyclopedia</B></I> that: "(1970 No S) Specimens were found in proof sets in the Mint Bureau's sealed plastic containers, Jan. 6, 1971; the Bureau on March 3 confirmed that a single die had produced 2,200 'S-less' coins." NGC and PCGS have, as of 3/07, certified approximately 165 1970 No S proof dimes, and 70 pieces with the Cameo designation. A mere two examples have rated NGC Ultra Cameo, of which the coin in this lot is the finest! (PCGS, to date, has reported no Deep Cameos.) Outstanding contrast occurs on both sides of this PR69 Ultra Cameo, as heavily frosted, well impressed motifs appear to glide over deeply mirrored, watery fields. We note a few freckles of light orange-gold color, especially on the obverse.
