1967, "Apollo Applications Mission AAP-1/AAP-2" (NASA, 84 pp, card, stapled). "Apollo Applications Mission AAP-1/AAP-2 is scheduled to be a long duration (up to 28 days) manned mission involving two Saturn 1-B launch vehicles. One vehicle will be used to insert a Command and Service Module (CSM) into an orbit from which it can rendezvous with the target vehicle. The target vehicle, carried aloft by the other launch vechicle consists of a multiple docking adapter (MDA), an airlock module (AM) and a modified S-IVB hydrogen tank which will serve as an orbital workshop (OWS) after depletion of its hydrogen supply during the launch phase.". The CSM will be a modified mainline-Apollo type vehicle. It will be connected to the MDA-Am thru umbilicals, which will supply H2 and O2 to the fuel cells and will also transmit electrical power and communications ... The primary objectives of the mission are to conduct a long duration mission up to 28 days using the vehicles mentioned above, and to leave the assembly in orbit for reactivation and reuse up to one year from initialization of this mission. Secondary objectives are to conduct experiments in the area of science, applications, biomedical, technology and engineering ...". This mission obviously never took place due to the Apollo I tragedy. A rare document that is almost never available. Excellent overall condition despite mild wrinkles. A rare publication. Ex: the Milton Weiss Estate collection.
