1966 Lincoln Cent--Obverse Die Cap--MS65 Red and Brown NGC. This type of cent error is most often observed on coins struck during the 1990s. Capped die errors on Lincoln cents minted in the 1960s are far more difficult to locate. The current piece is a picture-perfect example of an obverse die cap error. The edge is drawn up to approximately three times the original thickness of the cent, and is relatively uniform in depth. The obverse is Red and Brown, as stated on the NGC holder, but the reverse and part of the obverse rim is a psychedelic array of electric-blue, orange and magenta iridescence.

Coin Engraver: Victor D.
