Highly desirable 1964 Gibson Firebird I electric guitar, serial no. 173747, featuring the attractive standard sunburst finish. Don't let the single mini humbucker fool you, this guitar's got bite! Comes with a period looking bridge that is probably better for an unwound 3rd; however, the original tailpiece/bridge is in included and could be reinstalled. As is typical with these, the Firebird emblem-marked pickguard has shrunk a bit so some of the screw holes have cracked. This example is full of character with some wear around the edges and moderate finish checking, and the frets have also been leveled at least once. Weighing in at 7.5 pounds, this is a nice guitar with soulful character and tone. Complete with its original hardshell case. With its elegant simplicity, this is one of the most sought-after Firebird models. It probably doesn't hurt that Clapton used one in the Cream era, either!
