Mantle and Maris appear in authentic form here, bucking the trend of secretarial format that one so often encounters in Yankee balls of this era. Only Bridges, Kunkel and Gibbs are ghost signed on this OAL (Cronin) sphere, with the balance of the twenty-seven total signatures on the ball the genuine article. Signature quality rates an impressive average of 8/10, and a number "15" marked on the Reach stamping attributes this ball to Tom Tresh, from whose personal collection it (and several other contemporary Yankees signed pieces within this auction) derives.
