Ted Green was a defenseman known for his tough, aggressive, "enforcer"-like play. He was always among the penalty leaders, and won a Stanley Cup with Boston. He also played in the WHA where he won a pair of Avco Cups. In 1969, Green was involved in a stick-swinging fight with Wayne Maki of the St. Louis Blues during a preseason game. Green suffered a fractured skull and brain injury, which caused him to miss the entire 1969–70 season. Maki was charged with assault with a deadly weapon; Green later recovered and returned to play. After retiring as a player, Green became an assistant coach with the Edmonton Oilers during their 1980s dynasty. He was part of the staff that won five Stanley Cups (1984, 1985, 1987, 1988, 1990) and later served as head coach of the Oilers from 1991 to 1993. Graded 8 NM-MT by KSA.
