1962 White House Christmas Gift Print
Unissued 1963 Christmas Gift Print For White House And Presidential Staffers, Featuring A Room Interior From The White House
As early as the Coolidge White House, it became a tradition for the First Family to give standardized holiday gifts to staffers, White House domestic employees, etc. Under Eisenhower, a series of yearly prints began which continues through today. Each one bore a facsimile hand-written Christmas greeting and signatures of the President and First Lady. The gift prints for 1963 had already been printed when JFK was tragically assassinated on Nov. 22. Gradually, through several channels, a number of the prints got out "into circulation" (it has been estimated that perhaps 1000-1500 total copies exist). Most recently, a "find" of several hundred was made, coming from the family of a woman whose job had involved aspects of the original issuing process. Prices on this item had been running upwards of $1500, but have temporarily dipped because of the "find." These White House Christmas prints are avidly collected, as are JFK items, particularly of an official nature. Accordingly, these 1963 prints will undoubtedly rise once again when this temporary supply is fully absorbed (we spoke with the original source, who assured us that he now retains just three copies for his personal use). 14" x 17".

Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Since eBay bids are not shown to us until we open the lot on the floor, we treat those bids just like floor bids. In most cases the floor responds before the eBay bid is presented to us, due to Internet lag time, so for consistency we have made it a policy that floor bids are always considered first over tie eBay live bids. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid. Lot:27462
