1962 Sandy Koufax No-Hitter Game Used Baseball
1962 Sandy Koufax No-Hitter Game Used Baseball, Signed. The day started particularly well--Koufax fanned the Mets on nine pitches in the first inning (a feat engineered just forty times in baseball history as of the close of the 2006 baseball season)--and it just got better from there. With the aid of thirteen strikeouts and some nifty defense, the Hall of Fame lefty recorded his first of three career no-hitters on Saturday, June 30, 1962. Officiating that historic event was umpire Frank Walsh, who brought one of the balls used in that game to the jubilant Dodger southpaw. Koufax inscribed the ball on a side panel, "To Frank, Thanks for a great job every time--Especially the No hitter., Sandy Koufax." The inscription and autograph are a little light but entirely legible, rating a 4/10. The ball itself shows fine use from one of the greatest games in this legend's storied career. Included in the lot is a letter of provenance from Walsh's daughter, who inherited the ball after her father's passing. LOA from PSA/DNA.
