1961 Roger Maris Sixty-First Home Run Program. "Fastball hit deep to right. This could be it! Way back there! Holy cow! He did it! Sixty-one for Maris! Look at 'em fight for that ball out there!" Though the famous call of radio announcer and fellow Yankee great Phil Rizzuto is remembered by millions today, only 23,154 fans were actually on hand to witness the historic event first hand in the Bronx. With the Yankees clinching the pennant almost two weeks earlier, attendance for this 162nd and final game of the 1961 season was particularly light, resulting in a correspondingly thin supply of artifacts from that game today. Here we present one of the few available programs purchased and scored by a lucky spectator on October 1st, 1961, with Maris' fourth inning home run circled and notated as the record-breaker. The program shows a mild degree of external wear but no damage, and remains solidly bound. This is one of the toughest post-war programs in the hobby, so any opportunity to own one should be taken very seriously.

Shipping: Flat Material, Large (view shipping information)
