This is truly a OOAK piece. One of the Key Items in this entire auction! This is 1 of 2 vintage mid 1960's original miniature concept maquettes and model dioramas for Calico Ghost Town which was bought by Knott's Berry Farm in the 1950's, and renovated in the 1960's as a tourist attraction. The site is now a historical landmark, and an official state park of California due to it's significance in California's silver mining rush.

This is the inside one that shows the Saloon scene with eight different characters caught in a classic moment of the old west. A card game gone awry with the gamblers, dance hall girls, drunkard, cowboy, piano player, and a very comical bartender.

It is all sculpted, and painted by hand with intricate attention to detail. The artistry and effort put into this is simply off the charts. More than an artistry now all but forgotten, this is truly a piece of California and theme park History. Makes an absolutely incredible eye catching display.

You may notice some figures do not have hands, I asked him about that, and he said that hands were difficult to sculpt at that scale, and they were not important to the purpose of the dioramas, which was to create the life size figures for displays at Knott's Berry Farm, and Calico Ghost town.

This comes with a hand signed Certificate of Authenticity and from the collection of artist Stephen P. Ehlers who worked for Disney from the mid 60's into the 70's, and also worked for Knott's Berry Farm, Six Flags, along with other theme parks and shows.

There is only one LOA for both dioramas so higher bid gets original, and other gets a copy. In case of two bidders and a tie, it will be chosen at random. Case is rough, and not included.
