This is truly a OOAK piece. One of the Key Items in this entire auction! This is the vintage mid 1960's original miniature concept maquettes and model dioramas for Calico Ghost Town which was bought by Knott's Berry Farm in the 1950's, and renovated in the 1960's as a tourist attraction. The site is now a historical landmark, and an official state park of California due to it's significance in California's silver mining rush.

The one case holds both the inside and outside dioramas. The inside one shows the Saloon and several characters caught in a classic moment of the old west. The outside one has an old dilapidated covered wagon, the graveyard, and other characters.

It is all sculpted, and painted by hand with intricate attention to detail. The artistry and effort put into this is simply off the charts. More than an artistry now all but forgotten, this is truly a piece of California History, and makes an absolutely incredible eye catching display.

You may notice some figures do not have hands, I asked him about that, and he said that hands were difficult to sculpt at that scale, and they were not important to the purpose of the dioramas, which was to create the life size figures for Shooting galleries at Knott's Berry Farm, and Calico Ghost town.

This comes with a hand signed Certificate of Authenticity and from the collection of artist Stephen P. Ehlers who worked for Disney from the mid 60's into the 70's, and also worked for Knott's Berry Farm, Six Flags, along with other theme parks and shows.
