1960 1C Small Over Large Date PR67 Red PCGS. FS-024. At one time during the BU roll boom of the late 1950s and early 1960s, it seemingly mattered not what rolls one had: If one had rolls, one was in high cotton, and was poised to make a fistful of money. The speculative fervor was also aided by the launch of Coin World, a weekly publication dedicated to coin collecting that was first published in April 1960. There was at that time, at least for modern issues, no distinction between MS67 and MS60; either a coin was BU, or it wasn't. BU rolls of 1950-D nickels soared to more than $1,000 for a roll of 40 pieces before the market took a nosedive in 1965. At the height of the mania, a bank-wrapped 50-dollar bag of 1960 Small Date Lincoln cents was selling for more than $12,000, according to Bowers. This piece offers beautiful brick-red surfaces with some minuscule flecks on the obverse. The rarest of the three dual-hub proof error varieties.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
