1955 Franklin Bugs Bunny Silver Half Dollar NGC Graded MS 64
1955 Franklin silver half dollar featuring the well-known "Bugs Bunny" variety, graded Mint State 64 (MS 64) by NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Corporation). The obverse presents a right-facing portrait of Benjamin Franklin, inscribed with "LIBERTY" above and "IN GOD WE TRUST" below, with the date "1955" to the right of the bust. The reverse displays the Liberty Bell with inscriptions reading "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" above and "HALF DOLLAR" below, accompanied by a small eagle to the right of the bell and the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" to the left. This particular coin is notable for the "Bugs Bunny" die clash error, which is among the most recognized varieties of the Franklin half dollar series. The error occurred when the obverse and reverse dies struck each other without a planchet in place. This die clash transferred part of the eagle's wing from the reverse die onto Franklin's upper lip area on the obverse, creating the appearance of buck teeth - an anomaly that resembles the cartoon character Bugs Bunny and gives this coin its nickname. This variety is a popular find for collectors of U.S. coinage errors and varieties. Certified by NGC with the grade MS 64, this coin is housed in a tamper-evident holder. Slab: 2.5"L x 0.5"W x 3.5"H. Coin diameter: 30.6mm.
