<Our item number 140179><B>1955 Brooklyn Dodgers Scouting Letter.</B> Typed letter on &#34;Baseball&#34; letterhead, signed by Charley Segar as Secretary-Treasurer, and date-lined New York, September 16, 1955. Written to Bob Finch at the National Association in Columbus, Ohio. He writes: &#34;Mr. Bavasi, of the Brooklyn Dodgers, has approved of the following: Havana to contact Amoros, Mayaguez to contact Roebuck, Mayaguez to contact Howell, Santurce to contact Fernandez [written in pencil after this is &#39;we&#39;re waiting for reason on this&#39;], Mayaguez to contact Cimoli, Santurce to contact Don Zimmer….&#34; The National Association was the governing body of Minor League Baseball. Segar is informing Finch, as a courtesy, about players who would be involved in the upcoming Winter League season. Fine condition. <BR><BR>Buzzie Bavasi was general manager of the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers. He helped lead his team to four World Series championships, including the franchise&#39;s only win while in Brook lyn. That win took place in 1955, beginning on September 28, twelve days after this letter was written. The Dodgers beat the Yankees in seven games and Sandy Amoros was the hero of the Dodgers&#39; seventh-game win and the Series. Ed Roebuck, Don Zimmer, and Dixie Howell were on the Dodgers&#39; 1955 roster.
