1955/55 1C Doubled Die Obverse MS64 Red and Brown PCGS. FS-021.8. In an article about the 1955 Doubled Die cent in the February 12, 2001 Coin World, staff writer Randy Camper says: "The economic 'law' of supply and demand is readily observable in numismatics, and the 1955 Doubled die cent is a case in point. Whether the mintage is actually 20,000 coins, or even a few thousand more, is irrelevant. No more genuine coins of this date with these characteristics will ever be struck, so the supply is limited. Meanwhile, the demand for these coins has grown through the years and is likely to continue growing in the foreseeable future." A fair amount of orange-red luster shows through the light tan patination on this near-Gem Red and Brown specimen. Excellent definition appears on the design elements, and just a few minor scuffs limit the grade. No unsightly spotting is seen on either side.

Coin Engraver: Victor D.
