1955/55 1C Doubled Die Obverse MS64 Red and Brown PCGS. The first 1955 doubled die specimens turned up in Massachusetts in late 1955, and also in upstate New York. David Lange (2005) writes that: "Quite a few were found sealed within packages of cigarettes dispensed from vending machines. With these packs then priced at 23 cents each, change of a quarter was already provided by the cigarette manufacturer along with the cigarettes to avoid the nuisance of loading cents separately into their machines." Spectacular doubling is readily visible on all obverse letters and digits. Whispers of light tan, sky-blue, and crimson visit copper-gold surfaces that are devoid of blemishes, and a sharp strike results in strong design feature detail.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
