1954 First Edition of Paul Revere's Engravings
Clarence S. Bigham's Paul Revere's Engravings First Edition. (Worcester, Massachusetts: American Antiquarian Society, 1954), 181 pages, hardbound synthetic, original dust cover, 19.25" x 24". This book is the masterful and massive reference work that is considered the "Bible" for collectors of Paul Revere's engravings. This edition was further revised and refined and reprinted into a second edition in 1969. Any and all known existing engravings by Revere at that time are shown, many being in full color and including some larger, wonderful fold-outs. The history of Revere and his engravings is magnificently detailed from the print of the Boston Massacre to his engraved patriotic Colonial paper money, and so much more. Now over a half a century out of print, always in great demand. The book is in fine condition. The dust jacket is torn and slightly flaking at the corners and foot, with some mild foxing on the dust jacket.
