This is an excellent exceedingly rare original 1953 Volkswagen Beetle “Zwitter” split back window oval dash sedan. The Volkswagen “Zwitter” was produced from October 1, 1952 to March 10, 1953 (with less than 800 in the US) and is considered to be the most rare and desirable VW Beetles. The beetle features many unique Zwitter-Only features such as: the old split rear window, new dash from the new oval-rear-window cars, “Idiot Stick” turn signals, and unique interior finishes. The car runs and drives very well and shows excellent cosmetic condition. The piece was restored in the 1970’s and shows the jet black paint with chrome deluxe finishes, original upholstery, chrome hubcaps, rare split rear window, and 4-cyl. 25 DIN Horsepower 1131cc 1bbl engine. The car displays very well and is truly a show wining classic. “Zwitter” is short for the German Zwitter Kafer, or hybrid beetle. The beetle also has the 4 speed Non-Synchromesh “Crash Box” mechanical brakes (cable operated). NKN sealed beam headlights, chrome bumpers and hubcaps. The speedometer shows 22,935 miles.
