1953-S 50C MS67 NGC. While readily available in MS
1953-S 50C MS67 NGC. While readily available in MS65 and somewhat more difficult in MS66, the 1953-S Franklin half dollar is rare in the lofty grade of MS67, as indicated by the NGC population figure below. To date (1/05), PCGS has certified no '53-S above MS66. The obverse of the present MS67 specimen is toned in stunning golden-orange, crimson, lime-green, aquamarine, and purple patina, while the reverse is dominated by light gray color accented by peripheral aquamarine, lavender, and golden-brown. The design features are well impressed throughout. A couple of tiny, unobtrusive marks on each side do not detract in the least from the gorgeous eye appeal possessed by this wonderful specimen. Population: 5 in 67, none finer (1/05).
From The Stevenson Collection. Lot:8298
