1953 $1 ICCS "NSF; SWL" Gem Mint State-65. A difficult type to find when gem, with superior eye appeal and spectacular toning. A beautiful full gem representative, with flashy well-preserved surfaces bathed is delicate intermingled tones of greens, blues, reds and oranges, a coin that really must must be viewed to fully appreciate. The reverse comes to life with warmer colours of red and orange surrounding the upper areas, while the lower reverse turns to cooler shades with rich bluish tones. It must be said that these patterns of toning contrast nicely with the design, giving the sky and northern lights a lively appearance while the lower area representing the water becomes frigid with beautiful blues and some green. A magnificent coin for anybody who enjoys toning.
