<B>1952 25C Superbird PR67 <img border='0' src='http://www.heritagecoins.com/images/star.gif' width=10 height=10> Cameo NGC.</B></I> This variety appears in the Fourth Edition of the <I>Cherrypickers' Guide</B></I>, that indicates an S-shaped mark on the eagle's breast is from an "unknown cause." The name "Superbird," (a take-off on the comics character Superman) was given to the variety. As reported in a June 30, 2004 Heritage press release on a pair of Superbird quarters offered at the 2004 ANA, Ken Potter speculates that the "S" on the breast "... may have been the deliberate work of an engraver.
