1950 50C PR65 Ultra Cameo NGC. Proof Half Dollar production resumed at the Philadelphia Mint in 1950
1950 50C PR65 Ultra Cameo NGC. Proof Half Dollar production resumed at the Philadelphia Mint in 1950 after a seven-year hiatus. By then, Sinnock's Franklin design had replaced the Walking Liberty motif of Weinman. With the lowest mintage (51,386 pieces) in the proof Franklin Half series and well-known rarity at the Gem Ultra (a.k.a. Deep at PCGS) Cameo level, the 1950 is always in demand among advanced specialists. Richly frosted over the devices with glistening, mirrored fields, the present Gem is peripherally toned in more or less even champagne-russet iridescence. Solidly graded as a Gem, there are no mentionable blemishes. From The Dennis Ridings Collection. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour.
