<B>1949 Gold Rush Centennial Slug, HK-502A, MS63 Uncertified.</B></I> Gilt, 40.3 mm x 40.3 mm. Issued for the 1949 California Gold Rush Centennial celebration. Unlisted in Hibler-Kappen yet recognized by NGC as a so-called dollar, despite a staggeringly low population of one piece that grades MS62. This slug, if submitted to NGC, would double the certified population and perhaps better the other piece. Sharp, clean rims, well defined details and relatively even golden coloration qualify this so-called dollar as a high-end example that will likely be included in the forthcoming new reference on the subject.
