<B>1948 Stan Musial 230th Hit Game Used Baseball.</B></I> This ONL (Frick) ball put the finishing touch on a third National League MVP season for The Man, notching his incredible career-best hit total of 230. The nicely used sphere was later decorated with all relevant details of this event, announcing "Stan Musial's 230th Base Hit Ball off Borowy, Sat. Nite, Oct. 2nd, 1948." Another panel notes that the hit also set a new record of 103 extra base hits, topping the previous total that had stood since 1900. Final National League standings decorate another panel. Close inspection also finds the faded blue notation made at the park that day so that the ball could later be identified, reading in part, "Stan 230" beside the Frick stamping. As the final flourish of Musial's greatest season, the importance of this artifact cannot be overstated.
