<B>1947-S 5C MS67 Full Steps PCGS.</B></I> Those numismatists dedicated to Jefferson Nickel collecting are quite aware of the phenomenon of Full Steps coins, those nickels that have received a strong enough strike to show five or even six full steps in front of Monticello. A number of dates, notably those produced in the 1960s, are virtually and sometimes literally unknown with such a strong strike, and examples of all dates with full steps bring premiums in the market. The reverse of the current piece clearly shows the five full steps required to receive PCGS' designation, but beyond its strong strike the coin carries a great deal more to recommend it. The surfaces are aglow in iridescent color, and notable contact is at a minimum, as befits the grade. Most importantly, it is one of only two 1947-S nickels to have received an MS67 grade from PCGS regardless of designation, and it is the lone representative of the date to have received this grade with a Full Steps designation from either major grading service. Those specialists seeking to own the finest possible example of this date need look no further; place your bids now before this piece disappears into someone else's collection and stays off the market for many years.
