1947-D 50C MS67 PCGS. The 1947-D is the final Walking Liberty Half Dollar produced in the Denver Mint. The end of the Second World War resulted in decreased Walking Liberty Half Dollar deliveries in both 1946 and 1947. Just 3.9 million '47-D Halves were struck, as compared to a wartime high of 53.1 million coins for the 1943-P. Of course, the mintage for the 1947-D is plentiful when viewed in the wider context o U.S. numismatics, but fully struck Gems, while available with patience, are anything but common. At the Superb Gem level of preservation, the '47-D is a major rarity with just two pieces certified in MS67 at PCGS. There are none finer (7/02), a fact that should be of obvious importance to Registry Set collectors who bid on this lot. This is a sharply detailed coin with beautiful, mottled, olive and crimson-russet toning that is most extensive over the upper left reverse. The luster is full and frosty, and both sides are remarkably smooth from rim to rim. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
