1947 Brooklyn Dodgers Team Signed Baseball with Jackie Robinson and Branch Rickey. Arguably the most important baseball team in the game's history is memorialized here, a club that earns that distinction for the introduction of the first African-American player in Big League history. The brave racial pioneer Jackie Robinson appears at the top of a side panel on this ONL (Frick) sphere, just above fellow Cooperstown resident Arky Vaughan, the Pirates legend who was closing out his career at Ebbets. Incredibly, the Hall of Fame front office man Branch Rickey, who was single-handedly responsible for making the decision to end decades of racial injustice within our National Pastime, is here as well, the only time we've ever found him on a '47 Dodgers sphere. Twenty-two other National League Champs fill out the cast of characters, notably Reese, Reiser, Branca, Hermanski, Lavagetto and Jorgensen. Shotton and Stanky are clubhouse versions. Signature quality is an impressive and consistent 8/10, and the ball is clean with light, even toning. One of the most significant and appealing autographed baseballs to arise in the hobby in recent memory. LOA from PSA/DNA.
