Typescript and manuscript.An extremely scarce and desirable letter in English signed by Albert Einstein, the German-born Theoretical Physicist and Nobel Prize winner on "Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists" headed paper. Sent to an Irish recipient and enclosing a copy of Explaining the Atom by Selig Hecht which Einstein refers to as "an authoritative account of the scientific steps, both theoretical and experimental, that have led to our present knowledge of nuclear fission.... from this book the discerning reader can gain the information necessary to form an independent opinion on the practical problems of atomic energy confronting the world today" Also with the edition of Explaining the Atom referred to in the letter.
