1946-D/D 5C MS66 Full Steps PCGS. FS-501, formerly FS-031. "This is considered the second rarest of the original Jefferson 'Top 10'" in Mint State grades, report Fivaz and Stanton in their Cherrypickers' Guide. This spectacular overmintmark shows part of a horizontal D protruding to the left of the main mintmark, which is in the proper upright position. This variety has been well known for decades, and Walter Breen dedicated number 2078 to it in his seminal Encyclopedia. Few examples could hope to rival this Premium Gem for sheer visual appeal. The slightly satiny surfaces shimmer with excellent luster, and a thin veneer of sunset-orange and golden toning graces the carefully preserved surfaces. This coin's bold overall detail, most evident at the decisively struck steps of Monticello, is a crowning touch. A truly special example of this important variety.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
