<B>1944 Tully Frederick "Topsy" Hartsel Funeral Guest Book Signed by Roger Bresnahan.</B></I> The world bade farewell to this early Philadelphia Athletics great at the Garner Funeral Home in Toledo, Ohio on October 18, 1944, with scores of mourners turning out to pay their last respects. Offered is the guest book that was signed by those attending the services, each in pencil on seven lined pages. While almost all will be unrecognizable to those outside the Hartsel family, a flawless 10/10 pencil signature from Roger P. Bresnahan will attract the cultured baseball autograph collector. It is worth noting that this would be one of the last autographs that the Duke of Tralee would ever sign, suffering a fatal heart attack at his Toledo home just eight weeks later. The book also holds the text of the eulogy and what is purported to be the last photo ever taken of Hartsel. An envelope full of cards once attached to flowers sent to the funeral includes one from the Athletics. Condition of the softcover book and all of its contents remains perfect, with paper on back cover from scrapbook removal the only issue that may be worthy of note. This piece comes to us from the same Hartsel estate that has provided this auction with Topsy's game worn jersey and 1910 Championship trophy. <I>LOA from PSA/DNA.
