1944-D/S 1C MS66 Red NGC. FS-021. OMM-2, different from the Guide Book variety, which is the dramatic OMM-1. Probably the most attractive example of this scarce overmintmark variety that we have ever examined. Remnants of the underlying S mintmark are easily discernible using a magnifier, and a second diagnostic is a rather thick die crack that extends across the top of Lincoln's temple. Lustrous and beautifully struck, the coin exhibits rich copper-red toning with greenish accents. Two small, roundish planchet flaws are present on the upper right obverse field. Census: 8 in 66 Red, 1 finer (10/07).

Coin Engraver: Victor D.
