<B>September 1943 <I>United States Fleet Anti-Submarine Bulletin</B></I></B></I> <B>Belonging to Buzz Aldrin's Father.</B></I> Measures 8" x 10.5". Staple bound in orange wrappers, 56 pages. June 19, 1951 typed letter signed from United States Air Force General George Kenney to Edwin E. "Gene" Aldrin laid in, detailing research on antisubmarine warfare current to 1951. The bulletin is marked "SECRET" and contains annotated text and detailed maps & charts on anti-submarine technology. Buzz Aldrin's father, Gene Aldrin was a colonel in the army air corps who studied physics under Robert Goddard and served as an aide to General Billy Mitchell during World War I. He was also a committed aviator, even flying the first transatlantic dirigible round trip in the <I>Hindenburg.</B></I> And as a pilot and frequent air traveller in the first half of the twentieth century, Colonel Aldrin was friends and associates with famous airmen like Howard Hughes and Charles Lindbergh. This bulletin was research material for Gene Aldrin, who re-enlisted in the air corps during World War II in order to study antisubmarine warfare in Europe.
