1943-S 5C Jefferson Nickel--Struck on a Steel Cent Planchet--AU55 PCGS. An intriguing piece that should have been struck in billon when it would have been struck in copper-nickel two years before, yet was actually struck on a zinc-coated steel planchet that would have been bronze in the prior year. The design is well-centered, and only parts of the peripheral legends are missing. The slate-gray surfaces have minor wear and occasional areas of periwinkle-blue. An important and fascinating error, inextricably linked with the wartime measures of the 1940s.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)

Important
