1943-D 10C MS68 Full Bands PCGS. Writing in 1993, David W, Lange had this to say about the 1943-D: "Routinely well struck and lustrous, the 1943-D may be the quintessential Mercury Dime for a type set." We wholeheartedly agree with this assessment for all levels of preservation, although we caution bidders that the competition will be stiff for the few MS68 Full Bands examples known to PCGS. In addition to smooth surfaces, shimmering mint luster, and full striking detail, the present example displays lovely multicolored target toning. Reddish-russet, gold, blue, and tan colors march toward essentially untoned centers from the rims. There is a vertical obverse die crack (as struck) on Liberty's portrait, but we are unable to locate a single distracting bagmark. Population: 9 in 68 Full Bands, none are finer (1/03).From the Jay Eisenberg Collection. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour.
