1942 Roger Bresnahan Signed "The Pride of the Yankees" Contract Letter. With the star catcher's professional career ending over nine decades ago, and his passing in 1944 predating his Cooperstown induction by a year, autograph collectors tend to find the Duke of Tralee a sizeable challenge. We're happy to present one of the more desirable examples you're likely to find in the form of this single-page typed letter granting permission "...to portray or represent me in a motion picture photoplay to be based on the life of Lou Gehrig..." Of course, this film would come to be known as "The Pride of the Yankees," perhaps the most beloved sports movies of all time. The autograph is rendered in 10/10 blue fountain pen ink, and a notation of "Toledo, Ohio, March 9, 1942" at the bottom of the page appears to be in another hand. The single 8.5x11" page exhibits two horizontal storage folds and a couple dots of foxing at upper left corner, none of which causes the slightest concern. A welcome sight for hundreds of Hall of Fame autograph collectors. LOA from PSA/DNA.
