1942-P<5C> Type Two PR68 NGC. Due to the importance of nickel as a metal to the US military during World War II, the composition of the Jefferson Nickel was changed from a nickel alloy to copper, silver (35%) and manganese in 1942. In addition to the composition being a distinguishing factor, the two types are also easily differentiated by the absence or presence of a large P mintmark above the dome of Monticello. This Type Two example is essentially flawless with stunning gold and lilac color over bold definition. Unimprovable! Population: 16 in 68, 0 finer (9/05).
From The Sounder Collection.
