<B>1942 Grover Cleveland Alexander Handwritten Postcard.</B></I> Alcoholism and World War I shell shock had taken a heavy toll on the Hall of Fame hurler by the time he penned this brief note to a fan. Strong black fountain pen ink on a government postcard postmarked "Rochester Dec 7, 1942" reads, "Am not so well. Thanks for your nice letter, Grover C. Alexander." As tough as Alexander autographs are, particularly in the "Grover C. Alexander" format we find here, handwritten notes are exceptionally scarce, with only a handful known. Certainly the rarest of all members of the Hall of Fame's original attending class, Alexander autographs should be chased aggressively whenever seen, as we expect the offerings of such will soon slow to less than a trickle as the last remaining examples find permanent homes. <I>LOA from PSA/DNA.
