<B>1942 50C PR66 Cameo NGC.</B></I> Like its 1941 brethren, 1942 proof half dollars are seen with without the AW monogram; the current example displays the monogram clearly. Bruce Fox (1993) writes that some of the 1942 proofs are of lesser quality than those of previous years, due to improper handling and imperfect strikes. The Premium Gem we offered in this lot does not fit thee above profile. First of all, it's a sharp Cameo, which are nearly unknown for this year; indeed, NGC and PCGS have assigned the Cameo designation to only six examples. Second, it is exquisitely struck, and third, the well preserved surfaces reveal no significant marks.
