1942/1-D 10C MS65 Full Bands PCGS. Less dramatic than its P-mint counterpart, the 1942/1-D remained undiscovered until approximately 20 years after production. Despite this fact, it is the more common of the two errors in Mint State. Of course, we are using the term "common" in a relative sense because even the most deep pocketed collector will have difficulty locating a D-mint overdate at any level of Mint State preservation, with or without Full Bands. This obviously important Gem is free of bothersome incompleteness of detail with split central crossbands and billowy mint luster. Originally preserved with delicate golden tinting, both the obverse and reverse are silent on the subject of distracting abrasions. With a limited certified population, we anticipate significant bidder competition for this coin among advanced specialists, be they Registry Set collectors or not. Population: 17 in 65 Full Bands, only seven are finer (1/03).From the Jay Eisenberg Collection. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour.
