1942/1 10C MS63 Full Bands PCGS. FS-101, formerly FS-010.7. This Guide Book variety is so prominent that it was noticed by even non-numismatists, and it was discovered soon after its release. As a result, better-grade examples, even Mint State pieces, are generally available for a price. The conditions that brought about this wartime overdate, however, also meant that few such pieces showed bold definition.
By contrast, this Select example offers excellent definition, including an unbroken line of the fasces. Whispers of green-gold toning visit the fields, and the lustrous surfaces shine. Though a few small abrasions on and around the portrait preclude a better designation, the overall eye appeal is solid. Population: 10 in 63 Full Bands, 20 finer (12/07).

Coin Engraver: Adolph A.
