<B>1941 Satchel Paige & G.C. Alexander Wire Photograph, Type 1.</B></I> Seven years before he would take the mound at Yankee Stadium as a visiting member of the Cleveland Indians, Satch called the Bronx ballpark home, pitching for the New York Black Yankees. Here we find him letting one fly during pre-game warm-ups as Hall of Famer Grover Cleveland Alexander looks on. Vintage pencil notation on verso describes the scene, dating it to a May 11, 1941 meeting between the New York Black Yankees and the Philadelphia Stars. "International News Photo" stamping on verso. Mild creasing at edges does not affect central focus. 7x9". Confirmed as "Type 1" by PSA/DNA.
